Top performance at the reception: Marcel Siriwardena from Mandarin Oriental Munich is Vice World Champion!

A new top image bearer for the wonderful world of the hotel industry: Marcel Siriwardena from Mandarin Oriental Munich is Vice World Champion of receptionists! It was only in November last year that he won the German elimination of the international association AICR (Amicale Internationale des Sous Directeurs et Chefs de Réception des Grand Hotels) and now reached the “David Campbell Trophy”, colloquially also “receptionist- WM ”, the second place after Estelle level (Le Maurice Paris / France) and before Lara Patel (Crown Metropole Melbourne / Australia). A total of 15 hopefuls took part in the international AICR congress in London.

The international competition "Receptionist of the year" (Roty) is about excellent specialist knowledge of the subject as well as sensitive empathy, about recognizing the needs and wishes of the guests - mimicked by long-time experienced front office managers, resident managers or general managers and to be able to fulfill. Knowledge tests must also be passed. Extraordinary foreign language skills also play a role. At AICR Germany, the "Roty" is therefore always carried out in English.
