Maritim tries it with honesty: old-fashioned, but proven ... Not 50%, only 15% dropout rate among trainees
Bad Salzuflen, September 4th, 2018 -
Not hip, but authentic: Maritim Hotels relies on the old honesty with a pinch of self-irony. In two new recruiting videos, one admits to being a bit old-fashioned - sorry: "tried and tested" - but stable. Not 50 percent, but only 15 percent of the new trainees would drop out of their apprenticeship with the private hotel chain.

The message is cleverly placed - just in time for the big branch bashing of the German Trade Union Confederation, which annually brands the hospitality industry as one of the worst branches with its “training report”. Latest head of DGB vice chief Elke Hannack: "Restaurants, small hotels - we can already see that training is often misused, that you get cheap workers, so to speak, that you keep them busy for a long time." Right or wrong? Hardly is there a systematic disparagement for improvements in black sheep - of which there are still coincidences in the hotel and catering trade, sic! - to care. In contrast, the "job engine for the hospitality industry" creates new facts: The number of employees subject to social security contributions has been increasing continuously for seven years.

The second message is more subtle, but for the more substantial. In the "War for Talents" wants - and can! - You don't score with hypes, video gags and hip career promises - and therefore remember conservative values: "We don't follow every trend, we like quality, routine and tradition," says the video. It is not appropriate to use malice. With a wink, the video also says: "Some call it stale, we call it tried and tested."
