New mastermind for digitalisation in the hotel industry: CitizenM founder Michael Levie on apaleo's advisory board
Munich, 27 September 2021 - There are two major challenges in the hotel industry: rapid growth and consistent digitalisation! It is amazing to observe how both disciplines are mutually dependent or intertwine. As prime examples (among many), we would like to mention: Novum Hospitality and CitizenM. The latter hotel operator has been making a name for itself for fifteen years now - as a prototype for stylish lifestyle business hotels with highly effective process automation. Now, its founder Michael Levie is once again causing a sensation: He is joining apaleo's advisory board to further promote the groundbreaking idea of the API-first platform for hotel PMS.
Groundbreaking is the approach to replace so-called legacy PMS. Property Management Systems that have prevented more than enabled. In the highly agile VUCA world, in which one also has to prove oneself in hotel management, it is considered crucial to be able to quickly deploy new business applications - of course without horrendous costs for interfaces and reprogramming. Thus, the apaleo store has developed into the "iTunes for hotel management" - with currently a few hundred apps that work with the central system and can be used very quickly with comparatively little work. At apaleo, they rely on the innovative power of specialised IT developers, a concept that is as smart as it is clever.
Michael Levie from CitizenM has recognised this. The highly disruptive approach has the potential to change hotel management forever, he concludes. In the development and operation of successful hotels, it is once again a matter of decisively advancing one's tech stack - comprehensive knowledge in programming IT applications.
At apaleo, the team of experienced hotel digitalisers continues to grow. Recently, Nicolas Horvath, previously head of PMW Mews, took over the market leadership in France. In summer, apaleo surprised with the takeover of the competitor Hotelhero, whose founders are now continuing in the management.
