Marriott Hotel Hack: Now it's getting expensive! Stolen data from 500 million hotel guests
Bethesda / Maryland, December 03, 2018 -
The Law Firms are already positioning themselves: After the long-standing data hack at around 327 million Marriott International hotel guests became known, major law firms apparently collect prospective customers for class action lawsuits. It is investigated why the world's largest hotel group only reported the massive data leak on November 30. A first indication of this has been received internally since September 8, it says in a press release.
The listing on the Marriott paper had given way after the hacker attack, which had gone unnoticed for years, had massively given way and recovered somewhat in the meantime. The price loss is said to have been around seven percent.
Now there are several questions:
- Why has data theft gone unnoticed since 2014?
- How and why was the hacker attack noticed only now?
- Why did it take so long from the first notice (8.9.2018) to announcement (30.11.2018)?
- How many hotel customers whose credit card details were stolen have actually been robbed of monetary values?
Marriott International has released no further information since November 30. At https://answers.kroll.com, the first information for affected guests is given.
